Privacy at Faders
Last updated October 19, 2026
The short version: the Faders browser extension doesn't collect personal data, has no accounts, and doesn't track you. Streamers who sign in to the portal, and viewers who sign in to request streamers, give us the minimum we need for that. This website and the portal use HeyCatch to see how people find and use Faders, and Cloudflare Web Analytics for anonymous page counts. We don't sell data, and we don't use advertising trackers.
The browser extension (viewers)
The extension only runs on twitch.tv. On a channel page it:
- Asks Faders whether that channel is using Faders. The request contains the channel name, nothing about you.
- Receives the channel's voice, game and music audio from Faders when you turn it on.
- Listens to the Twitch player's audio on your device to keep those layers in sync with the video. That audio is analysed locally and never leaves your browser.
- Notices Twitch's ad breaks so it can step aside during ads. It checks the player for Twitch's ad markers, and looks at the requests the Twitch page sends to Twitch's own API (gql.twitch.tv) only to spot ad-start and ad-end events. It never blocks or changes those requests, and nothing from them is stored or sent anywhere.
- Saves your volume levels and the on/off switch in your browser's extension storage, on your device.
It doesn't read your chat, your Twitch account, your browsing on other sites, or any cookies. There's no sign-in, no analytics, and no identifier that follows you.
Like any website you connect to, our servers see your IP address when the extension connects. We don't log or keep it. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) processes connections under its own privacy terms.
The OBS plugin (streamers)
The plugin sends your chosen voice, game and music audio to Faders while at least one viewer is listening, using the key you create in the portal. Audio is relayed to listeners and held in memory for at most about a minute so late joiners can catch up. It's never recorded or stored.
The streamer portal
If you sign in to set up Faders, we store:
- Your sign-in details: your email address and, if you use or link Twitch, your Twitch user ID, login, display name and avatar.
- Your channel settings and your plan (Free or Pro).
- Plugin keys, stored only as a one-way hash plus a short prefix so you can tell them apart.
- Stream summaries (Pro channels only): when each stream started and ended, peak listeners and listener-hours. These are counts only. They don't include who listened.
To run the service, our servers also record stream statistics for every channel, whatever its plan: when a stream starts and ends, how many people are listening (once a minute), your plan and listener limit, how often the channel was full, which plugin version you use, and whether the audio OBS streams to Twitch was silent. They also note when you claimed your channel, created a plugin key or changed plan, and your answer to "How did you hear about Faders?" if you gave one. These are keyed to your channel's Faders ID and login, and are sent from our servers to PostHog, the analytics service we use for them, together with your plan and payment status from RevenueCat. Like the summaries, they're aggregate counts: no viewer names, IDs, IP addresses or devices, and nothing that says who listened.
The portal also uses HeyCatch analytics, as described under "This website" below. When you're signed in, HeyCatch links your activity to your Faders account ID, email address, name, plan and the date you created your account. Our servers also tell HeyCatch when you claim your channel, create a plugin key, or start or end Pro.
Sign-in uses Supabase; the portal and audio relay run on Cloudflare; stream statistics go to PostHog; analytics go to HeyCatch; payments go through RevenueCat and Stripe (below). The portal uses your browser's storage to keep you signed in. It sets no advertising cookies.
Streamer requests (viewers)
On faders.tv/vote you can sign in with Twitch to request streamers and vote for them. If you do, we store:
- Your sign-in details from Twitch: your Twitch user ID, login, display name and avatar, and your email address if Twitch shares it. This is the same sign-in the streamer portal uses.
- Which streamers you requested or voted for. This is what keeps it to one vote per Twitch account.
The board is public, but it only shows each requested channel's name, avatar and vote total. It never shows who requested or voted for a channel. We don't share your votes with the streamers you voted for or anyone else. Our servers send PostHog a count when a channel is requested or gets a vote, with the channel's name but nothing about who voted. You can take a vote back at any time; a channel nobody votes for any more is removed from the board.
Payments (Faders Pro)
Pro checkout and billing are handled by RevenueCat, and card payments are processed by Stripe. When you buy Pro, they collect what's needed to take payment, such as your email address, card details, billing country and postal code, and handle it under their own privacy policies. We never see or store your card number.
RevenueCat knows your purchase by your channel's Faders ID, and tells us whether that channel has Pro. We store only the resulting plan. Receipts and billing records are kept by RevenueCat and Stripe for as long as tax and accounting law requires.
This website
faders.tv and the portal load HeyCatch, an analytics service, in your browser. It records the pages you open, the links and buttons you click (including their text), when you leave a page, and where your visit came from, such as the referring site or a short link like faders.tv/r. Like any website you connect to, HeyCatch receives your IP address and basic details about your browser and device. It stores a random identifier in a cookie and your browser's local storage for up to a year, so your visits can be linked to each other. HeyCatch doesn't record your screen or what you type, and we don't use it for advertising. It handles this data under its own privacy terms.
Cloudflare, which hosts faders.tv, also runs Cloudflare Web Analytics on the website and the portal. Its script reports which page loaded, how quickly, the site you came from, and your browser, device type and country. It sets no cookies and stores no identifier, so your visits aren't linked to each other or to you. Cloudflare handles this under its own privacy terms.
Our server also counts page views itself: which page was opened and where the visit came from, plus clicks on the plugin download, extension and live demo links. Those counts carry no IP address, device details or identifier, and go to PostHog. There are no advertising cookies or tracking pixels, and the extension has no analytics at all.
Your choices
Uninstalling the extension removes everything it saved. Viewers can take back their votes on the request board, and can ask us to delete their sign-in and votes by emailing hello@faders.tv. Streamers can delete plugin keys in the portal at any time, and can ask us to delete their account and channel data by emailing hello@faders.tv. Deleting an account removes its channel, keys and stream summaries, we delete its stream statistics from PostHog, and we ask HeyCatch to delete the analytics linked to it.
